As you all can attest, our T.O.W.N. group is awesome. Over the last few years it has provided me the opportunity to step across some personal gauntlets that have led to a higher level of self-confidence in the outdoor world as well as the world in general. Just showing up for the first outing was a big deal for me. My gosh, I didn't know a single person AND I was about to undertake something I'd never done before (fly fishing) and was sure to look a fool. It took about three minutes to realize most attending were in the same boat, so to speak, and the rest is history. Since then I have taken up kayaking, camping, and backpacking, none of which I had done before. Bets

Eight years ago, I moved from Houston and built a house west of  San Marcos.. Enjoying the great outdoors was a major factor in my decision to live in the Hill Country.  I really did not know anyone in the San Marcos area.  One of the first things  I did was join TOWN.  It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. TOWN offers me all of the outdoor experiences...kayaking, camping, hiking for starters,.. I was looking for - It is so great to know that almost every weekend, there will be some fun outdoor (or even indoor) activity happening, and always with great women and friends. Besides the planned activities, TOWN's e-mail network offers the opportunity for any member to be in touch with other members at anytime to invite them on spontaneous outings and to make the experience even more interesting, each TOWN chapter interacts with other Texas TOWN chapters which results an even greater diversity of activities and more friends.I love TOWN , Anna

While vacationing in Oregon I watched my husband try fly fishing for the first time and thought WOW that looks like fun. Remarkably, the next week a notice was in the local newspaper about this outdoor woman group offering an introduction to fly fishing. I was apprehensive about showing up, not knowing anyone, and knowing nothing about fly fishing. Very quickly my fears were put to rest as I was welcomed by everyone (many of them beginners like me). For the past 5 years this group has provided so many opportunities for me to explore all sorts of outdoor activities. The wealth of information and instruction provided helped me gain the confidence needed to feel comfortable in trying things I never thought  would do. I have always loved the outdoors and had spent time with my husband camping and fishing and we both loved riding bikes.  My first experience with TOWN was at a meeting that was an introduction to archery.  I found the ladies cordial and so easy to get to know that I felt comfortable from the very beginning.  Since that time, I have backpacked, become an avid fly fisher, learned to make my own flies for fly fishiing, learned survival techniques and so much more;  and I do this with the women I have come to call my outdoor friends.  The women in TOWN are always friendly, we share ideas, fun trips and on occasion we even invite the spouses to come along. TOWN has made a difference in my life.  I can't imagine not being part of it.  Donna E.
