Warbler Woods is a 126 acres private nature preserve in Cibolo - just north of San Antonio that is a bird and wildlife refuge and preserve. It is near a convergence of 3 ecological regions making it a great place for varied habitat. The property is a large wooded area that is a major nesting ground for migratory birds.
The property has numerous trails and ponds, also a picnic area where we can stop for lunch. None of the trails are strenuous. Here is their website if you'd like to check it out. www.warblerwoods.com
Oct 4 Kayaking the San Marcos River on the Luling Zedler Mill Paddling Trail on Oct 4.
Meet at the 'Put In': From Hwy 80 heading into the town of Luling, turn right on Hwy 90 at the huge produce stand. Although the map indicates to go 5 miles, go only about 3 miles. Look for a small dirt road on your left that goes down to the river. (there is a sign on Hwy 90 indicating river access). This road is located before you can see the bridge that crosses the river. If you cross the river, you went too far. The road will wind under the bridge, keep following to the large parking area next to the river.
We will 'Take Out' at Zedler Mill Park and have lunch in the picnic area.
Rental kayaks are available through TG Canoe www.tgcanoe.com

Elephant Ear Removal: Every 1st and 3rd Wednesdays:If you’d like to get outdoors
and work with fun people,
join the gang removing invasive Elephant Ears at the wetlands boardwalk.
Every first and third Wednesday from 4:30 until
about 7 PM we spend some quality time trying to
make a small dent in this very invasive species. The
goal is to eliminate enough ears to allow some of the
natives a better chance to gain a foothold in areas
where they've been severely crowded out.
Gloves, tools and training are supplied. Boots are
recommended, as well as long pants if you are sensitive
to the sap of the ears. It’s
shady work, near the water and
a nice chance to accomplish something while
enjoying the beauty of the wetlands. -Leah
